Open BoxSmartly, tap Settings, then Upgrade to Pro. It's a one-time $14.99 purchase through the App Store, and it unlocks unlimited boxes, items and tasks plus box photos, the Box Gallery and iCloud backup. Family Sharing covers up to six family members.

On Pro, turn on iCloud backup in Settings. Sign in to your same iCloud account on the new device, install BoxSmartly, and enable iCloud backup — your inventory restores automatically. On Free, inventory is stored on-device only.

Avery 5163 works for detailed labels that print the box name, room and item list, and Avery 5160 works for blank claim sheets you assign as you pack. Any equivalent sheet with the same layout is fine, and you can always pair your own stickers instead by scanning a blank QR code, or skip labels entirely and write your own code on the box by hand.

First check that BoxSmartly has camera permission in iOS Settings › Privacy › Camera, since a denied prompt leaves the scanner blank. Good lighting and a steady hand do the rest — hold your iPhone or iPad about 6–10 inches away, and wipe the lens if the label looks blurry.

Email hello@boxsmartly.com and include your iPhone or iPad model, your iOS version, and a screenshot if you can — that's usually enough to reproduce a bug on the first try. A real person reads every message, normally the same day, and mid-move problems jump the queue.

Pro features unlock straight away, but iCloud backup only starts the next time you open BoxSmartly. Quit the app and reopen it on both devices, signed in to the same iCloud account, and your move begins syncing within a minute or two. Nothing is lost in the meantime.

Box summaries are a Pro feature, need at least three items in the box, and — unlike the other smart features — have no simpler version, so they need Apple Intelligence: iOS 26 on Apple Intelligence–capable hardware (iPhone 15 Pro or newer, or an M-series iPad), with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings. If all three are true, add a couple more items and it appears.

Not while boxes exist — the method locks in as soon as you create your first box, so a single move never ends up half labeled two different ways and every QR code stays readable. Once you've deleted every box, you can choose again in Settings → Labels.
